RAMADAN

"It was the month of Ramadan in which the Qur'an an was
sent down as guidance for mankind with clear signs
containing guidance, and as the standard by which to
discern the true from the false.
Hence, whoever of you lives to see this month
shall fast through out it".

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year. It is the month of fasting and the month in which the Qur'an was revealed.

It was so named because it originally fell in the height of summer with days of intense heat.

Ramadan is derived from the Arabic verb ramad, which literally means to bake a sheep in its skin.

Similarly, the fasting person living the hot desert undergoes the sensations of burning in his stomach from the extreme thirst caused by the intense heat of the dessert.

In the same way, Muslims who fast are slowly burning away their sins.

The month of Ramadan gradually rotates backwards through all seasons and month.

The Muslim experience the discipline of fasting under all kinds of conditions in all seasons.

In winter the days are short and cold, making fasting easier.

While in summer the long hot days make fasting more difficult.

Autumn and spring bring an intermediate situation.

All Muslims who fast for a period of about thirty four years, in one place, will have fasted for the same amount of time, no matter where they live.

    PLACE

Wherever a person might be, one can turn towards Allah in salat and in devotion.

Whenever possible, one should pray facing the Kabah, Makkah.

Simple Sinus Tips

Here are ways to help prevent sinus blockage before it starts:

  • Check the pollen count. Allergens can be the worst sinus offenders. Be aware of the pollen count and plan your outdoor activities accordingly.
  • Avoid irritants. Be aware of cigarette smoke and other air pollution- factors that may increase your risk of sinus complications.
  • Recirculate air. When inside your house or car, close the windows and set the air conditioner or heater to the setting that recirculates the air.
  • Avoid pressure. Changes in altitude can change how your sinuses act, so be aware of how activities such as flying, swimming, and diving can affect you.
  • Clean sinus cavity. Nasal irrigation, or washing of the sinus cavity and nostrils with saline solution, can be done daily to help promote sinus health.

CHEW GUM, FIGHT HEARTBURN...

Here's an easy way to prevent acid reflux- Pop a stick of gum into your mouth after a meal.

According to King's College London researchers, chewing gum can reduce heartburn- related symptoms by boosting production of Saliva, which is alkaline and helps neutralize stomach acid.

More saliva also means more swallowing which stimulates the muscle contractions that help digest food, researches say.

Stick to sugar less gum, they advise- and if you're not the gum chewing type, a sugar- free hard and or lozenge may have a similar effect.

6. Ask for feedback on your storytelling skills - or hire a coach - to hone your delivery.

7. Continually collect new stories so you always have fresh tales to supplement the
legends.

GET IT OFF YOUR CHEST AND LIVE LONGER

EXPRESSING YOUR ANGER (in a positive way) can help you to live longer, according to recent research.

An American study of 192 married couples over a 17- period discovered that those who were consistently resentful died in earlier than those who felt free to express their emotions.

For couple where both people suppressed their anger, death rates were high: in 23% of such cases both partners died during the study period. That compares with double deaths in just 6% of couples who freely expressed their emotions.

Interestingly, the couples who lived the longest were those where the man expressed his anger and the wife held hers in.

LAUGH!

According to a news story, if global warming continues, in 20 years, the only chance we'll have to see a polar bear is in a zoo. So in other words, nothing is going to change...

You know how when people say they've been abducted by aliens?
They always describe them as having a big head, black eyes. I wonder if they've really been abducted by pandas and are just too embarrassed to say.

"AND THE MOON,
FOR WHICH WE HAVE DETERMINED PHASES
[WHICH IT MUST TRAVERSE]
TILL IT BECOMES LIKE AN OLD DATE-STALK
DRIED UP AND CURVED."

THE PHASES OF THE MOON

The movement of the moon around the earth gives it different phases. As it moves, its shape changes gradually from a crescent to a full moon, and it wanes for the remainder of its course until it appears at the end of the month curved and pale like an old date-stalk from a palm tree..

THE BLESSINGS OF RAMADAN.....

IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE DISPENSER OF GRACE.
ALL PRAISE IS DUE TO GOD ALONE, THE LORD OF ALL THE WORLDS.
PEACE AND PRAYERS BE UPON HIS FINAL PROPHET AND MESSENGER...

THE CLOCK OF NATURE

The journey of the sun determines the time during the day, the times of the daily prayers and the daily routine of fasting during Ramadan.

The Phases of the moon allow one to know about the month and its intervals. The Muslim calender follows the phases of the moon, more commonly known as the lunar calender. The months of the Ramadan fast and Hajj (pilgrimage) are based on the lunar calender.

The lunar months have a bearing on the ebb and flow of the ocean tides. It is also believed to affect humans physiology (especially the reproductive cycle) and the way humans behave. The world lunatic comes from the Latin 'Luna' meaning moon.

"They will be ask you about the new moons.
Say: 'they indicate the periods for [various doings of] mankind,
Including the pilgrimage.."

LiFe...

Let us accept the inner life, the spiritual life. Mistakes in our journey are inevitable. Success without endeavour is impossibility itself. No work, no progress. Experience we must welcome, for we can learn nothing without experience. The experience may be either encouraging or discouraging. But it is experience that makes us a real being, that shows us the true meaning of our very existence.

THERE'S ONLY ONE YOU..

If we could understand ourselves & know :..

• what we're made of,
• who we really are,
• why we react as we do,
• our strengths & how to amplify them,
• our weaknesses & how to overcome them

When we know who we are & why we act the way we do, we can begin to understand our inner selves, improve our personalities & learn to get along with others.

We aren't going to try to imitate someone else, put on a brighter dress, a new tie, or cry over the kind of stone we're made from.

We're going to do the best we can with the new material available.....

• TOUCH
• SEE
• BREATHE
• HEAR
• FEEL

TOUCH
Cozy Fabrics
Textiles researches have found that holding certain types of cloth can evoke powerful emotions.

SEE
Clean Surfaces
Clutter isn't just unpleasant to look at, it can also be distressing - especially when you have no control over it.

BREATHE
Floral and Food Scents
In a Rutgers University study, women who received bouquets reported positive feelings a few days later. Researches speculate that flowers contain certain compounds that improve well-being.

HEAR
Pleasant Sounds
Researches found that even low-level noise-like the sound of someone typing-may ramp up levels of the stress hormone epinephrine by 30%, compared with quieter situations.

FEEL
Ample Space
Some experts suggest that humans are hardwired to seek out spaciousness, harking back to our ancestor's need to flee predators. Studies show that mice in cramped conditions exhibit more signs of stress than ones with room to roam.

THE FUNDAMENTAL TRAITS OF HYPOCRITES

In the outward appearance, hypocrites are almost no different from Muslims. Their intentions, however, is entirely different. To one considering their outward appearance, hypocrites could give the impressions of being a pious person; with their speech, behavior and other traits, they impersonate believers and in their manner of worship, pretend conformity to religious norms.
However, their understanding of the religion is a product of their errant rationale, rather than of the Quran. The basis of their perspective on religion is their ambition to reap personal benefits, and satisfy their own desires and intentions.
In concealing these intentions, hypocrites strive to take advantage of those benefits that emerge from positive environment, fostered among believers who live by morality of the Qur'an. They seek to profit personally from this bounty, abundance, beauty, peace, security, joy, unity, compassion, love and respect of Allah has granted the believers as blessings. However, they believe none recognizes their opportunism but that they can readily deceive the believers. Moreover, they believe they are successful, a good fortune they attribute to their intelligence.
However, though they think otherwise, hypocrites are truly deluded. For, to the true believer, even the slightest insincerity is apparent. Still, beyond that, Allah, who is aware of the innermost thoughts, knows the real intentions of these people. Consequently, those attributes of a believer they pretend outwardly have no validity whatsoever in Allah sight.
Allah relates this truth in the following verse,".....What they are doing [their worship] is purposeless." (Surah al-Araf, 139) Moreover, Allah knows of the hypocrites ' disingenuousness, and whatever else they think are able to conceal. Consequently, in the words of the Quran, through such insincerity,"... [hypocrites] deceive no one but themselves but they are not aware of it." (Surat al-Baqara,9)
